AM Forecast Discussion

Thanks to a cold front that pushed through the Big Country during the morning hours, temperatures fell into the upper 30's along with breezy conditions out of the north, which made it feel a few degrees cooler. Mostly sunny skies prevailed across the region with highs rebounding quite nicely into the upper 50's to low 60's. With high pressure settling over the region this morning, temperatures will be able to drop into the low 30's with upper 20's down in the Heartland. With a very dry air mass in place for Friday, daytime highs will quickly warm into the mid to upper 60's before our next cold front will cool us back down into the upper 50's for the weekend. A fairly quiet weather pattern shaping up through Tuesday with highs in the 60's and overnight lows in the 30's. A stronger cold front looks to move in by Wednesday bringing some colder air with a 10% chance of showers on Thursday.

Thanks to a cold front that moved through yesterday morning, cooler air returned to the region keeping afternoon highs in the mid to upper 50's. Breezy northerly winds between 15-20 mph made things feel even cooler throughout the afternoon. High pressure has settled over us this morning, allowing for clear skies and fairly calm winds, which will result in a cold start to the day with temperatures in the upper 20's to low 30's. Southerly winds will quickly return to the area for Wednesday as high pressure shifts off to the east, so expect daytime highs to return to above normal values in the mid 60's under mostly sunny skies. By Thursday morning, another cold front will be approaching west central Texas knocking daytime highs back into the low 60's. A stronger front pushing into the region by the weekend will bring even cooler air with with highs in the upper 40's to low 50's.

PM Forecast Discussion January 8, 2007

While parts of the lower 48 saw severe weather on Monday and Tuesday, a quiet weather pattern will continue across the Big Country. A northwesterly flow will bring brief shots of cooler drier air through the area for the next 7 days. Lows will be mainly in the 30s with highs in the 50s. A light freeze will be felt on Wednesday also Friday through next Tuesday. Please take the necessary precautions for your tender vegetation.

By early next week, we may have a chance for precipitation.

Have a great day!

AM Forecast Discussion

Even though we are in the month of January, temperatures have been very spring like over the last several days with highs peaking more than 20 degrees above the average. Those days are about to come to an end as a cold front is currently making it's way through the Texas panhandle. Earlier this morning, a few showers developed along and ahead of a pre-frontal surface trough as it moved through Comanche, Stephenville, and Granbury with drier air moving in from the west. Temperatures this morning will remain in the upper 40's with afternoon highs in the upper 50's, however with breezy winds out of the north/northwest, it will feel a few degrees cooler. High pressure will settle into the region tonight with clear skies and light winds, resulting in overnight lows dropping to near freezing. Temperatures will warm back into the low 60's through Friday, before another cold front arrives for the weekend, bringing a slight chance of showers on Saturday with highs in the upper 40's to low 50's and overnight lows in the upper 20's to low 30's.

AM Forecast Discussion

Spring like warmth returned to the Big Country for the weekend, as daytime highs peaked 20-25 degrees above the norm. Today, will be no exception as temperatures this morning have managed to hover in the mid 50's, thanks to breezy conditions and some clouds filling in across the area. This afternoon, highs will be back in the mid 70's along with scattered clouds and less than slight chance of showers for our eastern and southeastern counties. A cold front is scheduled to push through west central Texas by early tomorrow morning, which will allow cooler air back into the region. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 40's with daytime highs in the low 60's through mid-week. Dry conditions will persist through the weekend, however another cold front will swing across the area, bringing our afternoon highs back into the low to mid 50's and overnight lows in the low 30's.

Forecast Discussion

It was another very warm and breezy afternoon around the big country with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 70s. Looks like the spring like weather is going to stick around for the next several days, with highs at or above 65 degrees for most of the week. We will see a series of fronts move through starting on Tuesday morning, and this will help to get our temperatures out of the 70s or afternoon highs, and back into the 30s overnight. Since we have very limited moisture, it doesn't look like we will be seeing any rain with the first couple of fronts. For Monday, we could have enough moisture in our eastern counties, and in Brownwood and central Texas to squeeze out a couple of rain showers, but this is a very slight chance, and these showers, if they develop, will be very light and isolated. By Tuesday, temperatures will be in the low 60s thanks to a cold front that will move through, and another weak cold front will move through on Thursday. By next weekend, we will finally see a stronger front move through, and this will bring our temperatures back to normal, to the low 50s by Saturday. We might have enough moisture at that point to see a few showers moving through, but that is still about 6 days out so it is very possible that we might not see anything out of that system besides cooler weather. Have a great week!
